Las Tunas Resumes Production of Bagasse Boards
Monday, July 6, 2015

Havana.- The plant that makes bagasse board in the eastern Cuban province of Las Tunas resumed production and is expected to supply 5,000 cubic meters of that product.

The factory, the only one of its kind in the country, is expected to meet the domestic demand and exports of 4-6 millimeters boards.

Attached to the Grupo Nacional Azucarero (Azcuba), the plant can fulfill the plan and improve the quality of the product in order to increase exports.

This year, the plant received nearly 8,000 tons of humid bagasse fiber from sugar factories.

The factory is part of a group of local factories that use sugarcane byproducts, including molasses, urea, torula and alcohol as raw materials.
