Cuban Modern Pentathletes Train in Dominican Republic
Monday, June 29, 2015

Havana.- Cuba's best modern pentathletes are training in the Dominican Republic prior to their participation in the North, Central America and Caribbean (NORCECA) Tournament.

Cuban experts pointed out that their participation in that event is part of a program aimed at being in optimal shape for the Pan-American Games in Toronto, Canada, in July.

The Cuban team that will compete in the continental games includes Leydi Laura Moya and Iliannis Manzano, among women, and José Ricardo Figueroa and Yaniel Velázquez, among men.

In the Pan-American Games in Toronto, Cuba's main rivals will be Mexico, Brazil, the United States, Guatemala, Chile and Canada.

Figeroa's results include a silver medal in the Champions' Cup held in Doha, Qatar, in 2013, and the Pan-American title last year.
