French Sailboats Arrive in Cuba
Monday, May 4, 2015

Havana.- A fleet of French recreational sailboats will arrive in Cuba this month, as part of actions to strengthen contacts with the Caribbean Island.

According to Cuba's Hemingway International Nautical Club, the group is made up of 14 sailboats that belong to the Nautical Club of the Toulon Marina.

The fleet is composed of 63 crewmembers, mostly first-class officers who are retired from the French Navy.

The sailboats departed from Toulon, France, on October 12, 2014, and arrived in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba in early April. From there they will set sails to Havana, from where they are scheduled to leave for Key West, in the United States, on May 5.

The voyage is part of activities related to the 35th International Fair on Tourism FITCuba-2015, which will be dedicated to nautical activities.
