Bee Honey Exports, a Priority for Cuban Economy

Havana.- Bee honey exports are a major priority for Cuban economic authorities, who are interesting in exploiting the country's potential.

The Honey Processing Plant in the central Cuban province of Sancti Spiritus produced 2,160 tons of bee honey in the first trimester of 2015.

In order to achieve that production and meet the domestic demand and guarantee exports to Europe mainly, the factory processes 54 tons of bee honey a day.

In addition, 174 tons of organic honey, which is 100 percent natural and has no chemicals, were produced.

Organic honey is quoted at 3,000 euros per ton in the international market and must be certified according to the quality standards of the European Union.
