Cuba Guarantees Treatment to Hemophilic Patients
Monday, April 27, 2015

Havana.- Cuba's healthcare system provides free treatment to more than 400 hemophilic patients nationwide by administering them drugs made in Cuba and imported.

Experts from the Hematology and Immunology Institute (IHI) pointed out that Cuba invests large resources, from the primary to the tertiary healthcare levels, to guarantee the patients' treatment.

The State's support includes equipment, diagnostic kits and medications, in addition to training the appropriate personnel.

Multidisciplinary teams made up of hematologists, geneticists, orthopedists, physical therapists, dentists, hemotherapists, psychologists, pedagogues, technicians and nurses work together to achieve that goal.

The National Program for Integral Treatment of Hemophilia and other coagulation disorders also led to the creation of centers that provide specialized treatment to those patients in Pinar del Río and Villa Clara provinces.
