Better Medical Services for Senior Citizens in Cuba
Monday, April 13, 2015

Havana.- The healthcare system in the central Cuban province of Villa Clara has 26 elderly clubs and 16 elderly homes that provide care to local senior citizens.

One of those clubs was inaugurated recently in the city of Santa Clara and can attend to 25 people.

In addition, actions will be taken this year to improve the conditions of the facilities that provide care to the elderly in the municipalities of Remedios, Caibarién and Santa Clara.

A 31-bed geriatrics ward will be completed soon at the Arnaldo Milián Castro Provincial University Hospital, and similar ward will be remodeled in other municipalities.

Villa Clara has more than 173,000 people over 60 years of age, who account for more than 21 percent of the province's population, thus the importance of providing good care to senior citizens.
