Renewable Energy in Central Cuba
Monday, March 30, 2015

Havana.- The central Cuban province of Sancti Spiritus will have one of the largest biogas plants in the country, as part of actions in favor of renewable energy.

The plant, which will be equipped with Cuban-made technology, will have a capacity of 740 cubic meters and will generate up to one megawatt/hour a day for the Agri-Industrial Complex in Guayos.

In addition, the complex has the first power generator that will be synchronized with the national power grid to produce electricity from biogas.

In order to obtain methane gas as a result from the decomposition of organic matter, the process includes a waste-treating system.

After fermentation, the gas is collected by a compressor and stored in steel canisters connected to the power generator of the Agri-industrial Complex.
