Facilities for Medical Biophysics in Santiago de Cuba
Monday, March 23, 2015

Havana.- The University of Oriente, in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba, benefits from the services of a new laboratory for research by the Medical Biophysics Center.

Lab officials pointed out that they have the infrastructure to carry out research works in several fields of interest for the country.

They also noted the collaboration with the University of New Brunswick, in Canada, which has allowed acquiring a magnetic resonance piece of equipment to obtain different parameters of biological samples.

This new technology is used to study sickle cell anemia, search methods to diagnose skin ulcers and work in conjunction with other institutions.

The Medical Biophysics Center is the only one of its kind in Cuba and the main beneficiaries of its products are the main hospitals in the eastern part of the country.
