Monday, March 23, 2015

Havana.- Cuban athletes are focusing their attention on the upcoming edition of the Pan-American Games in Toronto, Canada, where they are expected to keep the second place by countries.

With that goal in mind, Cuba's best athletes are participating in international events in boxing, judo, wrestling, taekwondo and weightlifting.

In the 2011 Pan-American Games, Cuba won 29 gold medals, half the number of titles won to hold the second place in the table of medals.

So far, 320 Cuban athletes have qualified for the continental games, and others are expected to join the list in the next few weeks.

In Guadalajara, Cuba won 58 gold medals, ten more than Brazil and 18 more than Mexico in six sports (track and field, boxing, wrestling, judo, weightlifting and canoeing.
