Drum Festival in Havana

Havana.- Several scenarios in the Cuban capital will host the 14th Guillermo Barreto In Memoriam Drum Festival.

According to organizers, the program will consist of master classes, concerts, forums, contests and dance, among other cultural events.

Some 1,000 musicians will participate in the festival, in addition to world-renowned groups such as the Litz Alfonso Ballet Company, Yoruba Andabo and Afrocuba Orchestra, from Matanzas.

As part of the program, there will be a main contest in the categories of drum, congas, kettledrums, bongos and batá drums, for which there was a preliminary elimination.

On this occasion, musicians such as Memo Acevedo (United States), Aldo Massa (Canada) and Per Mathisen (Norway) will be among the foreign guests, while Cuba will be represented by Oliver Valdés, Enrique Pla, Ramsés Rodríguez and Rodney Barreto.
