European Tourists Visit Central Cuba
Monday, January 19, 2015

Havana.- Europe is one of the major tourist-sending markets of the central Cuban province of Cienfuegos during the ongoing peak season.

Experts pointed out that European tourists are interested in the region's cultural values and history, as well as its nature.

In that regard, Germany tops the list of tourist-sending markets, with an increase of nearly 2.5 percent compared to previous seasons, especially in the hotels La Unión and Gran Caribe Jagua.

In addition, the number of Italian travelers to Cienfuegos this season is expected to increase by 1,000 tourists.

Last year, Cienfuegos received 180,500 foreign tourists who were interested in the former village of Fernandina de Jagua, founded in 1819 and declared Humankind's Cultural Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
