Havana.- Cuban swimmers are expected to win more slots for the Para-Pan-American Games in Toronto, Canada, this year, at a qualifying event in Colombia.
The competition, scheduled for March, is an excellent opportunity for five Cuban swimmers to qualify for the continental Games, as only Lorenzo Pérez has qualified.
The Cuban delegation will include Yunerki Ortega, Julio César Soria, Asniel Rodríguez, José Jesús Reina and 16-year-old Juan Castillo Estévez.
Estévez will try to qualify in the 50-, 100- and 400-meter freestyle competitions, 100-meter backstroke and butterfly styles and the 200-meter medley event.
Ortega (S11 blind), who won two gold medals, and Soria (S13 visually impaired), with two silver medals four years ago, are also among the candidates to win medals.
