Cuban Sport Shooters Excel at Continental Event

Havana.- Cuba's best sport shooters won eight titles at the 11th Americas Cup, held in Guadalajara, Mexico, where they also won six silver medals and five bronze medals.

The Cuban archers also won five slots for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro-2016 and 17 for the Pan-American Games in Toronto, Canada, in 2015.

The Cuban gold medalists were Alexander Moleiro, in the men's three-position rifle at 50 meters, Eglys Cruz (women's air rifle at 10 meters and three-position rifle) and Jorge Grau (pistol at 50 meters), among others.

In addition, 17 of 20 Cuban shooters qualified for the Pan-American Games in Toronto.

In Rio de Janeiro, 390 athletes will compete in 15 events, of whom the Guadalajara tournament contributed 11, in addition 200 athletes for the Pan-American Games in Toronto.
