Nine Cuban Karateists to Compete in Veracruz-2014

Havana.- Nine Cuban karateists will compete in the 22nd Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico, in November.

The Cuban delegation is made up of female karateists Yanelis Góngora in the 55-kg division, Yanet Fránquiz (61 kg), Cirelys Martínez (68 kg) and Yoandra Moreno (+68 kg).

The men's team is made up of Listmar Licea (60 kg), Leodán Deivi Hernández (67 kg), Léster Javier Zamora (75 kg), Dennis Pelayo (84 kg) and Jander Tiril (+84 kg).

Previously, the national shortlisted teams trained in Mexico with local karateists, as part of a practice program with first-class fighters.

The men's team won all 12 fights, while the women's team won eight and the local female karateists won eight fights too.
