Cell Therapy Gains Ground in Cuba's Healthcare Sector |

Havana.- Cell therapy has gained ground in Cuba's healthcare sector, where that treatment has been successfully used to treat several diseases.
In central Sancti Spíritus province, treatments with stem cells have benefited more than 150 patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis.
According to experts, most patients recovered or improved their health after being treated with stem cells.
Stem cells are in the bone marrow and the peripheral blood, and are extracted from the patient.
At present, four projects involving stem cell therapies are being carried out in orthopedics with promising results.
