Cuban Athletes to Compete for Titles at Regional Event
Monday, September 29, 2014

Havana.- Cuban athletes are expected to win at least 18 gold medals at the upcoming Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico.

Cuban experts pointed out that more than 60 athletes are expected to compete in several sports at the regional games.

The best options concentrate in throws, jumps, decathlon and heptathlon, as well as relay and sprint races, among other disciplines.

Cuba will not compete in the walk competitions (men's and women's), 3,000-meter steeplechase, marathon and men's shot-put.

Cuba's best athletes include pole vault world champion Yarisley Silva and hammer thrower Yipsi Moreno.
