Restoration of Havana Building Goes as Planned
Monday, September 29, 2014

Havana.- The National Capitol, a historic building in the Cuban capital, is benefiting from a comprehensive remodeling project to restore it to its original conditions.

The north wing of the Capitol will be the permanent venue of the Cuban Parliament, and other areas of the building, such as the Hall of Lost Steps, will be open to public.

The works are part of the most comprehensive project ever carried out in the building since its inauguration in 1929, and includes the restoration of historic and architectural elements, in addition to new ones.

Among the latter are the fire and security system, computer networks and air conditioning.

The works will also involve segments of different arts, bronze, plaster and golden elements and especially the dome, which is the most complex part of the project.
