Nature Tourism in the Zapata Swamp
Monday, September 22, 2014

Havana.- The Zapata Swamp, located in western Matanzas province and the largest swamp in the Caribbean region, offers a wide range of options for those who love nature tourism.

During the summer, the Zapata Swamp reported a solid increase of 38 percent in domestic tourism, with great preference for the Playa Girón Hotel.

In addition, tourists can go on excursions to breathtakingly-beautiful places such as Caleta Buena and the Taino Village, located in Guamá.

In Guamá, Cuban sculptor Rita Longa created a life-size replica of a Taino village, which was occupied by the first residents in the island of Cuba, as they do their everyday chores.

Moreover, remodeling works have been done in the Victoria de Girón camping site to welcome nature enthusiasts.
