Walking Statues in Santiago de Cuba
Monday, September 22, 2014

Havana.- The city of Santiago de Cuba, the capital of the eastern province of the same name, has walking statues as part of the cultural project Ojos.

The initiative, promoted by the local branch of the Hermanos Saíz Association, is being carrying out at Plaza de Marte.

Members of the association, and high-school and university students perform as living statues in that public area.

The statues of the project Ojos, which are based on a technique of theater performance combined with dance, photography and plastic arts, allude fiction characters that spectators can identify.

This program, founded seven years ago, has been present in major cultural events such as the Caribbean Festival and Romerías de Mayo.
