Golf for Tourism in Cuba
Monday, September 15, 2014

Havana.- Cuba's tourism industry is boosting the creation of joint ventures to develop golf courses to take advantage of the new law on foreign investments.

Authorities from the sector pointed out that negotiations concluded to set up a joint venture in the real estate sector linked to that recreational activity.

The talks involved the Cuban hotel group Palmares and the Chinese company Beijing Enterprises Holdings Limited, which will invest in the zone of Bellomonte, east of Havana.

An agreement was signed with the British company Esencia Hotels and Resorts in early 2014 to develop the Carbonera Golf and Country Club in Matanzas.

In addition, technical works are underway in two projects in western Cuba (El Salado and Punta Colorada) with participation of Spanish firms.
