Cuba Favors Prevention of Pregnancies in Adolescents |

Havana.- Experts from eastern Santiago de Cuba province are taking actions to prevent pregnancies in adolescents.
The initiative consists of implementing an educational program in the communities, taking into account that the number of pregnant adolescents has increased over the past few months.
Healthcare authorities warned that pregnant women between 12 and 14 years of age are a great concern, considering risk factors such as their psychological and biological immaturity.
Frequently, after getting pregnant, young women show signs of depression or anxiety, as they have to assume an attitude that does not match their maturity.
Statistics show that more than 45 adolescents aged 12-14 have resorted to induced abortion, as well as 500 women aged 15-19.
