Cuba's Honey-Processing Industry Improved
Monday, September 1, 2014

Havana.- Cuban agricultural authorities have taken actions to modernize the honey-processing plant in central Sancti Spíritus province.

The investment benefited all areas in the plant, which processes 60 percent of the bee honey produced nationwide.

Actions included replacing the processing technology, installing a homogenizing machine, modernizing instruments at the laboratory and automating the bottling line.

In addition, a new plant to produce wax sheets, a sanitary filter, lightning rods and gardens were improved to guarantee the processing of 4,900 tons of bee honey in 2014.

Conditions have been created to meet the demand from the international market, where the price of a ton of bee honey exceeds 3,000 euros.
