Railroad Relics in Cuban Museum
Monday, September 1, 2014

Havana.- The Railroad Museum, in Havana, exhibits old locomotives recovered from different parts of the country.

The museum's collections show the evolution of that transportation system, including equipment that are on display outdoors.

According to the Office of the Historian of Havana, experts are working on the reconstruction of 40 old steam locomotives built from 1878 to 1925 to exhibit them.

The experts have been working for seven years to rescue those machines, 30 of which have been completed.

Cuba's railroad service, which began in 1837 to carry cargo and passengers, was the first one in the Antilles and Ibero-America.
