Group Gaviota Bets on Growth of Cuban Tourism

Havana.- Cuba's Grupo de Turismo Gaviota S.A., one of the country's major tourist chains, is planning to open more hotels as of 2017.

The hotel chain runs 30 percent of Cuba's hotels, totaling 7,000 rooms in 12 establishments in Varadero beach.

In that major coastal resort, Gaviota will open three hotels, as well as other establishments in Cayo Buba and Las Conchas beach.

The group runs 11 hotels, totaling 6,709 rooms the keys Santa María, Ensenachos and Las Brujas, and has plans to administer nearly 12,870 rooms by 2017.

On Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Coco, Paredón Grande and Antón Chico, north of Ciego de Avila, the group plans to run more than 6,000 rooms.
