New Tourist Option in Cuba
Monday, August 18, 2014

Havana.- Cuba's tourism industry, which is one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the country, is working to diversify its offers.

In that regard, rodeo events are promoted as a tradition based on an extreme sport that has been present in Cuba since the 1920s.

For that purpose, the country counts on the Cuban Association of Rodeo Cowboys, which was founded in 1993 and has more than 5,300 members nationwide.

In addition, there are 79 rodeo stadiums in Cuba, including 14 that are associated to Agricultural Fairs, like the main arena in Rancho Boyeros, in Havana.

Rodeo consists of riding wild colts or bulls bareback and performing different exercises, including, calf roping, barrel racing, lasso demonstrations and remarkable feats of daredevilry.
