Uruguay Receives 1.4 Million Tourists in 2014 |

Montevideo.- Uruguay received 1.43 million foreign tourists, who spent nearly one billion dollars in the country during the first semester of 2014.
According to sources from the sector, Uruguay was visited by 811,177 Argentineans, 224,706 Brazilians and 175,274 Uruguayans living abroad from January to June 2014.
Authorities also mentioned Paraguay, Chile, North America and Europe as major tourist-sending markets.
This figure accounts for a 4.5-percent decrease compared to the first six months in 2013, mainly due to a drop in the number of Argentinean tourists.
Montevideo was the main tourist destination, with 369,745 visitors in the first semester of the year, accounting for an increase of 7.6 percent.
