Cuba to Produce Reagents to Test Sugar Level in Blood |

Havana.- Cuban experts are working on the construction of a plant that will be inaugurated this year to produce diagnostic kits to test the sugar level in blood.
The facility, which is in the start-up stage, has produced 40,000 reagent strips that are used in a glucometer to test the blood.
The plant's capacity is 20 million glucose biosensors and production might increase to 100 million. The project is the result of technological transfer by the Chinese company Changsha SINOCARE Inc.
That way, the SumaSensor Glucose Control System, produced at the plant, comes with a glucometer, reagent strips, puncturer and lancets.
Cuba's pharmaceutical industry is boosting the program to provide specialized healthcare to diabetic patients.
