Young Cuban Chess Player Excels at Regional Competition

Havana.- Cuban player Rayner Amaro, who is 11 years old, excelled at the 25th Pan-American Chess Festival in Mexico, where he competed in the under-12 category.

Amaro, who holds a Fide Master title, finished second at the Festival with six wins, two ties and one defeat in nine rounds.

In the blitz modality, he won the championship after winning six of seven games, which last three to five minutes.

It is worth mentioning that Amaro also won the Pan-American School Tournament held in El Salvador recently.

In the National School Games, he was undefeated, after competing with older players (aged 12-14), winning six games and drawing three.
