Havana Dominates National School Games

Havana.- The Cuban capital finished first at the 50th National School Games, winning 334 medals (102 gold, 105 silver and 107 bronze).

The Venezuelan delegation won 61 gold, 34 silver and 24 bronze medals, leading the foreigners at the event.

According to experts, 44 records were set in six sports, 17 more than in the previous edition of the event, and the most outstanding sports were athletics (13 records) and weightlifting (10).

Individually, Venezuelan swimmer Oriana Pérez won ten gold medals and

Melisa Morejón, from Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, won eight in the same sport.

Precisely, Morejón was the most outstanding athlete at the games, while wrestler Zuleydis Vásquez was the best in combat sports, and Lya del Rosario clocked the best times.
