Cuban Experts Repair Equipment for Power Sector
Monday, July 21, 2014

Havana.- Cuban experts are working successfully in the repair of equipment for the power sector in the eastern region of the country, as part of an initiative that will contribute to saving resources.

Workers from Organización Eléctrica in Manzanillo are repairing 900-950 transformers every year, as well as protection modules used by the staff.

The workshop where the equipment is repaired meets the demands from the provinces of Granma, Camagüey, Las Tunas, Holguín, Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo.

During the process, the transformers go through 14 stages, including the drying process after being coiled up, which takes place in an electrical furnace designed by the workers.

The cost to repair a transformer is up to four times lower than the price of a new device on the international market.
