Five Cuban Wrestlers Qualify for Toronto-2015
Monday, July 21, 2014

Havana.- The Cuban wrestling delegation in the Greco-Roman style won five gold medals at the Pan-American Sports Festival in Mexico, winning the same number of places for Toronto-2015.

The Cuban delegation was headed by two-time Olympic champion Mijaín López, who beat Ramón García, from the Dominican Republic, in the 130-kg division.

Mijaín, who has won the world championship four times, had previously defeated Niko Bogojevich, from the United States, who won the bronze medal, along with Antonio dos Santos, from Brazil.

The other gold medals went to Pablo Shorey (85), Ismael Borrero (59), Miguel Martínez (66) and Yasmani Lugo (98), while Julio Bastida finished third in the 75-kg division.

The United States won two gold medals that went to Andrew Bisek and Anderson Jonathon, and Venezuela finished first in the 71-kg division thanks to Wuilexis Rivas.
