Cuban Athletes Win Two Medals at Diamond League
Monday, July 21, 2014

Havana.- Cuban athletes won two medals at the Grand Prix held in Sainsbury's Glasgow (Scotland), the ninth stage of the 2014 Diamond League.

Rose Mary Almanza finished second in the 800-meter contest, clocking 1:59.94 minutes and only preceded by Ajee Wilson, from the United States, who clocked 1:59.68 minutes.

For her part, Yarisley Silva (pole vault) won the bronze medal after jumping 4.65 meters, so she has scored eight points and is second in the general ranking of that sport.

The gold medal went to Fabiana Murer, from Brazil, who leads the ranking, although she did not jump higher than 4.65 meters and failed to jump 4.76 meters twice.

Ernesto Revé (triple jump) finished fifth with 16.49 meters, while Yaimé Pérez (discus) gave a discrete performance with 61.41 meters.
