A Peculiar Cultural Option at Cuban Wax Museum
Monday, July 21, 2014

Havana.- The Wax Museum in city of Bayamo, in the eastern Cuban province of Granma, is a peculiar cultural option that has offered its services to Cubans and foreigners over the past ten years.

Next month, the facility, the only one of its kind in the country, will exhibit a life-size wax sculpture of late Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez.

In addition, this year, the Museum will also exhibit a sculpture of late Cuban musician Juan Formell, founder of the orchestra Los Van Van and National Music Award winner.

The Wax Museum has a score of life-size sculptures of prominent figures, including the patriots Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, also known as the Cuban Homeland's Father, and National Hero José Martí.

It also exhibits sculptures of US novelist Ernest Hemingway and the Italian young man Fabio Di Celmo, who was a victim of terrorism against Cuba.
