New Procedures for Aesthetic Surgery in Cuba |

Havana.- The health services in the eastern Cuban province of Holguín include treatments with platelet-enriched plasma for aesthetic surgeries.
The abovementioned procedure allows treating cases of facial aging at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin hospital as part of a project which could be extended to other medical specialties.
The method consists of filling the wrinkles with the biomaterial obtained from the extraction of 20 to 30 cubic centimeters of blood from the very patient.
The blood is centrifuged and the useful plasma fraction, enriched with platelets, is extracted to be infiltrated in the skin folds in three sessions along a year.
The patients selected for this method are those who have undergone a plastic surgery in which it was not possible to reach certain face areas, as well as patients older than 30 years who show certain aging signs.
