Costa Rica's Tourist Sector to Grow
Monday, July 18, 2011

San José.- Costa Rican authorities have predicted a medium-term growing trend in the country's leisure sector to increase tourist arrivals.

According to estimates, tourist arrivals will increase at an annual average rate of 5 percent, to over 2.7 million vacationers by 2016.

In addition, the number of rooms will increase and 500 companies will receive the Tourist Sustainability Certification (TSC).

In that regard, the 2010-2016 National Sustainable Tourism Plan establishes that in order to achieve those goals, more and better airlines must be attracted to guarantee maritime, land and air interconnections.

Costa Rica has 43,362 hotel rooms, 49 percent of which have received the TSC and meet national and international quality standards.
