Cuba Promotes Congress Tourism
Monday, October 11, 2010

Havana.- Cuban authorities are promoting congress tourism to develop that major sector of the travel industry.

In that regard, Cuba is implementing a strategy to host international congresses, a sector in which there is strong competition in the region.

According to statistics from the tourism industry, by August 2010 Cuba had hosted 161 events of different kinds, which were attended by some 35,000 delegates.

Some 300 international events, including major forums such as the Meetings and Incentive Travel Market (MITM America) and the Latin American Congress on Poultry Farming will be held in Cuba next year.

Cuba has several convention centers and more than 180 four- and five-star hotels where meetings and conferences can be held.
