New Medical Technology Installed in Cuba
Monday, September 13, 2010

Havana.- A Gaseous Chromatographer, which is used to detect drugs in people and the environment, was installed in eastern Santiago de Cuba province.

The equipment determines the consumption and abuse of medications and the presence of harmful substances in humans and the environment.

The hi-tech equipment can be used to search for any kind of poisoning and to analyze water, soils and other substances in order to identify chemicals in them.

The equipment was installed at the Toxicology and Biomedicine Center in Santiago de Cuba, the only institution of its kind in eastern Cuba.

The center uses that technology to research the level of pollution in the Bay of Santiago de Cuba, analyze toxic substances and test the quality of pharmaceutical products.
