Cruise Tourism to Grow in 2010
Monday, March 22, 2010

Washington.- The world's cruise sector is expected to carry 14.4 million travelers in 2010, accounting for a 7-percent increase compared to last year.

In order to achieve that goal, cruise companies will invest more than six billion dollars to buy new ships.

In that regard, Latin America will be the fastest-growing market this year, especially in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and the Caribbean.

In 2009, 13.4 million people traveled in cruise ships around the world, despite the negative effects of the global economic crisis and the A (H1N1) flu epidemic.

Cruise companies also mentioned Europe's positive influence, as many routes lead to that continent, where some ports are the base of several cruise ships.
