Cuban Judokas to Tour Europe

Havana.- Cuban female judokas will tour Europe, as part of their training for major international competitions in 2009.

The eight-strong delegation is headed by Yanet Bermoy and Idalis Ortiz, silver and bronze medalists at the Beijing Olympic Games last year, respectively.

The Cuban judokas will compete in a tournament in the Belgian city of Arlon, and will take part later in the Grand Slam of Paris.

The tour also includes participation in the World Cup in Vienna (February 14-15) and the Grand Prix of Hamburg, Germany (February 21-22).

The other members of the Cuban delegation are Zaylin Lantarón (52 kg), Yurisleidis Lupetey and Maricet Espinosa (57 kg), Yaritza Abel (63 kg), Onix Cortés (70 kg) and Kaliema Antomachín (78 kg).

Olympic runner-ups Anaisis Hernández (70 kg) and Yalennis Castillo (78 kg) will not make the delegation due to injuries.
