|
|
Monday, September 29, 2008
Havana.- Eleven Cuban female judokas will participate in the World Cup of Tokyo, Japan, where the world's top eight teams will compete.
Cuban experts pointed out that the organizers' invitation will allow two judokas in each division to take part in the event, so younger judokas will have the chance to compete.
The Cuban delegation is headed by Yanet Bermoy and Yalennis Castillo, Olympic silver medalists in Beijing, and Idalis Ortiz, bronze medalist in the Beijing games.
In the 48-kg division, Cuba will be represented by Saily Lantaron and Dayaris Mestre, because Bermoy will debut in the 52-kg category, along with Susel Mustelier. Maricé Díaz will fight in the 57-kg division and Yaritza Abel will compete in the 63-kg category.
World junior champion Onix Cortés and Laliema Antomachín will compete in the 70-kg division, while Castillo will fight in the 78-kg category, and Idalis will compete in the +78-kg division, along with Heidy Abréu.
The world cup will be attended by female judokas from France, Germany, China, Australia, Cuba, South Korea, Algeria and Japan.
