Cuban Judokas Win Tournament in Italy

Havana.- Cuban female judokas finished first at the 24th Tre Torre Tournament in Italy, where they won six gold, three silver and one bronze medals.

Cuban experts said that the gold medalists were Yanet Bermoy in the 48-kg division, Yalegnis Mestre (52 kg), Yurisleidis Lupetey (57 kg), Driulis González (63 kg), Yalennis Castillo (78 kg) and Idalis Ortis (+78 kg).

Anaisis Hernández (70 kg) won the bronze medal and the silver medals went to Zailin Lantaron (48 kg), Maricet Espinosa (57 kg) and Heidi Abreu (+78 kg).

The Cuban judokas took part in 29 fights, winning 28, including 18 victories by Ippon. The tournament was attended by 154 competitors from nine European countries.

Cuba's previous participation in Tre Torre Tournament was in 2004, when the judokas from the Caribbean Island won six gold medals and one bronze medal.
