Cuba Boosts Virtual Education Programs
Monday, February 20, 2006

Havana.- The company CITMATEL, attached to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, is boosting virtual education programs, as part of the development of informatics in Cuba.

According to experts, CITMATEL has created more than 500 online courses, one of the main services in its Internet portal at www.cuba.cu.

That option is part of distance education programs that involved Internet networks, video conferences, libraries and virtual museums, among other computer resources.

Virtual education is based on new information and communication technologies that allow students to learn, regardless their location, occupation or age.

The courses deal about social sciences, international relations, foreign trade, basic computer and programming.
