Facilities for Golf in Cuba
Monday, September 12, 2005

Havana.- Cuba's tourist industry, the fastest-growing sector in the Caribbean Island's economy, offers many facilities for golf practice.

According to experts, the main golf course in the country is in Varadero, Cuba's main beach and sun destination.

The 18-hole golf course is 6,269 meters long from the First Tee to Green 18, and benefits from the services provided by the Club House.

Sol Melia's Cuba Division and local groups have designed several programs for golf enthusiasts who visit the Cuban coastal resort.

The options include initiation lessons for beginners, special programs for companions, facilities to keep the inputs and exclusive tee times.

Cuba has a vast experience in organizing golf tournaments and has hosted two editions of the Grand Final of the European Challenge Tour (1999 and 2000).

The development of golf in Cuba includes ambitious projects such as the first school run by the PGA and by instructors from the Cuban Golf Federation.
