Cuba: Complements for Tourism

Cuba, which is known worldwide for its traditional sun and beach offers, is working to diversify its options to attract more foreign and domestic holidaymakers.

In this direction, modalities like health tourism, sport, adventure, nature, ecotourism, culture and cruises gain ground, just to mention some.

Likewise, in the country's tourist destinations, extensive programs of extra-hotel products are incorporated, as a true complement to the sector.

That is the case of Jardines del Rey, which offers some 7,900 rooms in 16 hotels distributed on Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo.

That destination has the presence of the Cuban hotel chains Gran Caribe, Cubanacán, Isla Azul and Gaviota, as well as the Spanish groups Sol Meliá Internacional, Iberostar and Sercotel, and Pestana (Portugal), Memories (Canada) and Accor (France).

In addition, as a novelty is the so-called Rocarena Park or Torre de Cristal (Crystal Tower), which allows visitors to satisfy their desire to climb.

With a singular and simple design and very striking colors, it has 90 attractions of different degrees of difficulty so that any person, including children, can climb horizontally.

Located on Cayo Coco, on the north coast of Ciego de Avila, the recreational center is 13 meters high and consists of three levels and 18 masts of 32 meters, and offers extreme confidence for both experts and beginners.

Of course, the first level is reserved for children aged four to eight years of age, as it is only one meter high.

The free fall from a height of 12 meters through a well reinforced rope, the giant swing, or the flight to an intermediate post and from there to the ground, and the climbing wall are practical to enjoy.

Likewise, options such as the so-called Boat Adventure are incorporated, which allows tourists to drive at sea and enjoy underwater activities.

Meanwhile, dolphins await visitors in the Dolphinarium, which was recently renovated after Hurricane Irma hit the region.

Jardines del Rey, known in the beginning as a temporary settlement of charcoal makers and fishermen, has kept its original beauty intact and currently includes several keys with tourist potential in the Sabana-Camagüey archipelago.

The proximity of a 400-kilometer-long coral reef, considered by the experts the second in importance worldwide, after the Australian coral reefs, adds a touch of distinction to Jardines del Rey.

Furthermore, there are more than 30 diving sites in the coral reef, with sponges and gorgonians, tunnels and caves where divers can watch several species of the marine fauna.
