Description |
Prior to 1760, two houses of one and two stories already existed here They were bought and remodeled by brothers Miguel and Gabriel Peñalver. Austrian dancer Fanny Elssler lived in this house in 1841-1842. By 1855 the house lost importance when it was sold and the descendants of the Counts of Peñalver moved to another part of the city. Recently restored, it is today the seat of the Wifredo Lam Center, in remembrance of one of the main figures of Cuban contemporary painting. |
