Churches-Places of Cult
Address
Calle Cuba No. 806 esq. a Merced. La Habana Vieja. La Habana
Description
The Church, of our Lady of Mercy (Virgen de la Merced) was built between 1865 and 1667, and was one of the most magnificent temples in Havana.

The wealthy classes of Havana at that time contributed to enriching its interiors. Its mural decoration is unique among our colonial churches. Famous artists like Melero Chartrand and Petit, and the Spanish painters Zuloaga, Murillo and Alonso Cano worked on it. It maintains its original functions.
